This method is intended to indicate the response of the fibre to a standardized mechanical treatment, as an index of its papermaking quality.

This method may be used to define the papermaking quality of pulp by subjecting it to treatment in a standardized laboratory beater according to a definite schedule.

This method may be used on any pulp material.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
