Cleanroom HVAC systems can consume up to 50 times more energy than those used in commercial spaces of the same size. Airflow rates in cleanrooms not only need to meet the heating and cooling loads but also the dilution purpose to reduce room particle concentration. Published reports have indicated that airflow quantities for cleanrooms often are over-designed and cause significant energy waste. This article shows how to reduce fan energy use and key elements missing with a traditional approach.
