Cooling technology research has focused on developing environmentally acceptable refrigerants. This article shows how efficiency can be further increased by integrating alternative cooling technologies such as thermoelectrics, magnetocalorics, acoustic refrigeration, and Stirling cycles with todays cooling systems.
