Avoiding scope creep can help business owners and project managers protect the bottom line. Scope creep occurs when the scope of services expands beyond items covered in the contract documents. Its a problem for the engineer if no provision exists for additional compensation for the expanded scope. It also can affect the likelihood of repeat work with clients who view the expanded scope as already covered in the engineers contract.
