Californias Title 24
Most U.S. states use ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. However, the standard does not specifically address permanent peak load reduction. California changed its building codes to more directly approach reducing peak demand. If this innovative strategy proves successful, it could signal the adoption of significant changes to building codes nationwide.Citation: ASHRAE Journal, Vol. 48, No. 10, October 2006
