Building Sciences Parapets: Where Roofs Meet Walls
Parapets traditionally have served two functions: in the past, they were useful for fire protection, more recently they protect the edge of roof assemblies from wind uplift forces. Parapets also have a long history of problems. The author provides the cure for what he calls parapetitus in this months column.
