A58 -- Integrated Building Design (I-P)
Integrated building design (IBD) is a collaborative process of preparing design and construction documents that result in optimized project system solutions. For IBD to succeed and be beneficial to the project, the entire project delivery team must be committed to, understand, and remain engaged and involved in the process from project inception through operation and maintenance. This chapter provides a working knowledge of IBD, highlights activities that support collaboration, and helps the HVAC design professional develop a structured and integrated approach to project delivery. The basic process framework is outlined, and major milestones are identified.Chapter Table of ContentsProject DeliveryObjectivesToolsOwner ProcessCollaborationDesign Activities and DeliverablesProject Delivery Sequence FocusCitation: 2011 ASHRAE Handbook -- HVAC Applications: Chapter 58, Integrated Building Design
