1. Purpose and Scope

1.1This test method is designed to determinethe degree of color transfer fromthe surface of textile floor coverings toother surfaces by rubbing. The intent is toreproduce as near as possible true-to-lifesituations in all constructions whetherdyed, printed or otherwise colored.

1.2 Test procedures employing whitetest cloths, both dry and wet with water,are given.

1.3 As the use surface of a textile floorcovering may be exposed to various conditionsin true-to-life situations, such assoil, stains, cleaning, shampooing and applicationof chemical treatments such asantisoils, antistats, antimicrobials, etc.,the test may be made before, after or beforeand after such situations.
