Description / Abstract: This specification covers three grades of special quality round and multi-arc steel wire intended for the manufacture of valve springs requiring resistance to set when used at moderately elevated temperatures and high stress levels. This wire shall be in either the quenched and tempered condition or annealed and cold drawn condition as specified by the purchaser.

• Type A wire has the lowest tensile strength.

• Type B wire is an intermediate tensile strength grade

• Type C wire is a high tensile strength grade.

Material Description.

The subsequent refining processes must include the use of secondary ladle refining and the use of silicon for deoxidation purposes.
