As the number of firms providing computerized Building Automation Systems (BAS) increases, so does the need to integrate these systems into a single interoperable BAS. The last several years has seen several very significant advances in the technology of interoperability. BACnet and LonTalk protocols offer useful tools for interoperability as well as interchangeability and integration. Other devices offer Internet con- nection and the use of standard web browser graphical interfaces. Systems using these tools are being installed across the country.
